Punjabi Pakistan led the breakaway effort from India and continues to control the Pakistani anti-India agenda at all costs. The Baloch, Pashtun Sindi, and earlier Bangladeshi people are exploited and treated as second class colonized people with Pakistan. Punjabi Pakistani reaction to any political movement for regional autonomy is met with brutal suppression and targetted assisination. Under such circumstances, the only way forward is (a) for US to openly align itself with India, (b) for India to convincingly defeat Pakistan in war (c) for Pakistani provinces to drift away into independent states. Unfortunately, none is likey to happen. Pakistan will continue to take American money and use it to kill Americans in Afghanistan and Indians anywhere it can. And China will fish in troubled waters and watch in glee as India and the US tie themselves in knots and debt. What the world needs an American foreign policy that is anchored in reality and the national interest, not in trying to buy short term success on the cheap which will only result in future blowback. Again.

The only way to win this war was and still remains to back all the Pashtuns (all the Afghans) together in leaving Pakistan…..to break Pakistan up whether by force or political dispensation.

America’s refusal to turn the tables on the Punjabies (who control the ISI and use Islam as the weapon of choice against the Pashtuns/ANP) and to openly befriend the Pashtuns in their cause against Islamabad is and remains the fatal flaw in US foreign policy.

That the US bought into the the line that the Punjbaies/ISI were its friends is hilarious. It is the Punjabies/ISI who keep the lower class Pashtuns whipped up into radical Islam....such fancy is not indigenous to the Pashtuns themselves. The indigenous movement among the Pashtuns remains the ANP party which the Punjabies/ISI love to see die - literally at the hands of the Taliban which they are backing.

The only friends American could have long-term in South Asia are the Indians, Pashtuns, Balochies and Sindhies…..none of them will be America’s friends out of force though…..from the looks of it America will most likely have no friends at all Central Asia…including India.
